Abstract
⺠Sphingomyelinase D in sicariid spider venom is a potent insecticidal toxin. ⺠Symptoms of sphingomyelase D intoxication in crickets are consistent with neurotoxic activity. ⺠Potency of crude venoms of Loxosceles arizonica on crickets is comparable to the most potent spider venoms. ⺠Potency of sphingomyelinase D on crickets is comparable to that of known peptide neurotoxins such as μ-agatoxin-Aa1a.
