Abstract
⺠We examined the mechanism of endothelial cell cytotoxicity induced by Loxosceles intermedia. ⺠Brown spider venom leads to important changes in cellular adhesion. ⺠The loss of cell anchorage provides the signal to initiate apoptosis. ⺠Venom triggers endothelial cell death by an apoptotic mechanism known as anoikis.
