Abstract
► Bivalves that had eaten Gymnodinium catenatum can cause PSP outbreaks in Portugal. ► Toxin ingestion and toxin presence in the fluids of one of these victims were reported. ► In cockles the toxin profile was dominated by sulfamate and decarbamoyl groups. ► In urine toxin profile were also dominated by sulfamate and decarbamoyl groups. ► Compounds with an O-sulfate at C11, abundant in the bivalve, were absent in urine.
