Abstract
⺠We studied whether Micrurus venoms cause kidney damage in experimental animals. ⺠We found that some Micrurus venoms can cause severe local myotoxicity. ⺠Myotoxicity is apparent in venoms of high phospholipase activity. ⺠Venoms which are myotoxic also cause renal lesions. ⺠Myo- and nephrotoxicity should be considered in the Micrurus toxicological picture.
