Abstract
► A phospholipase enzyme was isolated from venom of the snake Bothrops ammodytoides. ► The enzyme contains 122 amino acids residues, stabilized by 7 disulfide bridges. ► Its isoelectric point is 6.13, posses an aspartic acid residue on the active site. ► Only with high doses can be seen pulmonary edema and intraperitoneal bleeding. ► Locally the enzyme causes slight edema and muscular lesions.
