Abstract
⺠The social wasp Parachartergus fraternus venom was studied for the first time. ⺠The LD50 for the P. fraternus venom was 500.5 μg/mice or 16.68 mg/kg of mice. ⺠P. fraternus venom injected into the hindpaw of Wistar rats induced pronounced dose-dependent oedema. ⺠P. fraternus venom-induced contractions of the guinea-pig ileum. Captopril potentiated this effect. ⺠P. fraternus wasp venom presented haemolytic and antibacterial activities.
