Abstract
⺠Most bacteria found in stingray mucus and the Paraná river water were Gram-negative. ⺠Molecules released in culture by these bacteria were toxic to human epithelial cells. ⺠These bacteria were resistant to at least one type of antibiotic mainly B-lactams. ⺠These bacteria may be transfered into the wound and cause severe secondary infections.
