- Oleocanthal is an active constituent of extra virgin olive oil that contributes to the well-known healthy effect of the Mediterranean diet.
- In vitro studies suggest a therapeutic potential of oleocanthal in multiple myeloma, arthritis and progressive dementia.
- Further research on oleocanthal is needed to facilitate the translation of experimental evidence into the clinic.
