Abstract
SummaryHealth care providers should seek to minimise the environmental damage caused by their activities and to use scarce natural resources wisely. In particular, they should aim to make no contribution to climate change. Well-designed buildings which incorporate nature will contribution to the health of patients, Staff and visitors. A checklist is provided for environmentally sustainable NHS services. Faster progress requires leadership of cultural change and a much greater corporate commitment from the Department of Health.
