Abstract
⺠Mdm2 binds to the Slug mRNA and increases its stability regardless of p53 expression. ⺠Mdm2 increases the Slug protein levels and cellular invasiveness selectively in p53-null cells. ⺠The stabilization of Slug mRNA is a novel mechanism whereby Mdm2 promotes tumor progression in a p53-independent manner.
