Abstract
The results indicate that ALL remains a poor prognosis disease in elderly patients, and that aggressive induction regimens designed for younger patients are very toxic for these patients. These data suggest that BCR-ABL+ ALL is becoming a relatively more favorable prognosis disease in the elderly, likely due to the influence of imatinib therapy. Further regimens should explore the use of less aggressive regimens in elderly patients and should evaluate the optimal way of combining imatinib with conventional agents in BCR-ABL+ patients.
