Abstract
The internal clinical quality assurance procedure has proved successful in three ways. (1) It had a catalytic effect that led to the development of a new generation of ophthalmic applicators. (2) It could be demonstrated that this new generation of applicators is up to the state of the art in brachytherapy. (3) With this new generation of 106Ru/106Rh ophthalmic applicators it is possible for the first time in the history of their use to apply the dose that is prescribed by the radiooncologist.
