Abstract

- IL-6 reduces NMDAR-dependent cytosolic Ca2+ overload and neuronal death.
- The NMDA subunits NR2B and NR2C (but not NR2A) are IL-6 inhibitory targets.
- CaN is a mediator that transduces JAK/STAT3 signaling to a negative regulation of NMDAR subunits in IL-6 neuroprotection.
