Abstract
- Ca2+ chelator EGTA increases the permeability of smooth muscle cells for Na+ and K+.
- Exposure to EGTA results in â¼5-fold elevation of the intracellular [Na+]/[K+] ratio.
- Na+,K+-ATPase inhibition and Ca2+-depletion lead to similar transcriptomic changes.
- Increased [Na+]i/[K+]i contributes to transcriptomic changes in Ca2+-depleted cells.
