Abstract
- Olfactory ensheathing cells in the inner nerve layer generated spontaneous calcium waves.
- Calcium waves could be triggered by laser photolysis of caged inositol trisphosphate.
- Application of ATP or blocking purinoceptors had no effect on calcium wave propagation.
- Blocking gap junctions entirely suppressed calcium waves.
