Abstract
⺠Epithelial morphogenesis depends on changes in the relative sizes of cortical domains. ⺠Apical-basal polarity is needed to target actomyosin contractility to one side of the cell. ⺠Modifications in apical-basal polarity proteins can drive cell shape changes. ⺠Some polarity proteins become planar polarised during morphogenetic movements. ⺠In turn, these contribute to the planar regulation of actomyosin contractility.
