Abstract
► Pattern of active Wnt/β-catenin signaling during salivary gland development. ► Branching arrested by ectopic Wnt/β-catenin signaling in salivary epithelium. ► Lack of FGF signaling leads to ectopic canonical and non-canonical Wnt signaling in the epithelium. ► Non-canonical Wnt signaling mediated by Wnt5b ligand induces Cp2l1 expression. ► FGF signaling induces expression of the Wnt inhibitor sFRP1 in endbud cells.
