Abstract
► Regenerating zebrafish fin blastemas are temporally and spatially organized. ► Regeneration proceeds by formation of isolated blastemas at the tip of each fin ray. ► Osteoblasts undergo partial dedifferentiation while populating blastema peripheries. ► Cell lineages remain fate restricted during fin regeneration. ► Progeny of dedifferentiated cells are the major source of regenerated fin tissue.
