Abstract
► We focused on regulation of lipolysis in appressorial cells in Colletotrichum orbiculare. ► Fatty acid β-oxidation is critical for appressorial melanization and lipolysis. ► Blocking of an initial step in melanin synthesis impaired lipolysis. ► Blocking of the downstream steps in melanin synthesis had no effects on lipolysis. ► The results indicate that primary and secondary metabolism regulates lipolysis.
