Abstract
⺠Identification in Aspergillus niger of a galactitol dehydrogenase, LadB. ⺠LadB is part of the oxido reductive d-galactose pathway producing l-xylo-3-hexulose. ⺠In A. niger this pathway is the main pathway for d-galactose catabolism. ⺠The first step of this pathway is catalysed by d-xylose reductase. ⺠The Leloir pathway seems to be not functional.
