Abstract
⺠SOCE is abundant and robust in neonatal cardiomyocytes, yet absent from adult. ⺠STIM1 is a required element in the activation of SOCE. ⺠STIM1 expression - including a novel splicing isoform - is re-activated by stress. ⺠STIM1-dependent SOCE activates the calcineurin-NFAT signaling pathway. ⺠STIM1-dependent SOCE is a critical element in pathological hypertrophy.
