Abstract
⺠Myocardial contractile function is enhanced with erythropoietin (EPO) treatment. ⺠Heterodimeric EPO receptor stimulation yields similar contractile effects. ⺠The inotropic effect of EPO is mediated via novel PKC isoform signaling. ⺠EPO enhances the contractility of both mouse and human myocardium.
