Abstract
⺠ER alpha and ER beta selective agonists reduce visceral fat mass. ⺠Effects of E2 on serum lipids are predominantly mediated via the ER alpha. ⺠Dietary genistein does not affect visceral fat mass and blood lipids. ⺠ER beta selective agonists modulate soleus muscle mRNA expression of Igf1 and Pax7. ⺠ER beta selective agonists possess anabolic activity.
