Abstract
► SLC26A4 mRNA expression was evaluated in NaI-treated rats and PCCl3 cells. ► NaI treatment was carried out for 30 min up to 48 h. ► NaI treatment increased SLC26A4 mRNA content in both experimental models. ► Actinomycin D blocked this effect in PCCl3 cells. ► Iodide rapidly upregulates SLC26A4 mRNA expression by transcriptional mechanisms.
