Abstract
⺠NIS mRNA and protein expression was evaluated in NaI-treated PCCl3 cells. ⺠NaI treatment was carried out for 30 min to 24 h. ⺠NaI excess acutely decreased NIS mRNA content, half-life and recruitment to ribosomes. ⺠NaI treatment rapidly reduced NIS mRNA translation rate and NIS content. ⺠Iodide regulates NIS gene expression by posttranscriptional mechanisms.
