Abstract
⺠In brain, pLG72 negatively affects the activity of hDAAO, which catabolizes D-serine. ⺠In this work we studied the subcellular localizations of hDAAO and pLG72 in U87 cells. ⺠Newly synthesized hDAAO is cytosolic before being delivered to peroxisomes. ⺠In the cytosol hDAAO is catalytically active and interacts with pLG72. ⺠pLG72 binding and ensuing hDAAO inactivation protects against D-serine depletion.
