Abstract
⺠Glutamate (10 mM) reduced hippocampal slice viability. ⺠Glutamate inhibits PI3K/AKT pathway and activated p38MAPK and ERK1. ⺠ConBr, a lectin from Canavalia brasiliensis, prevented glutamate-induced toxicity. ⺠The neuroprotective mechanism of ConBr was dependent on PI3K/Akt pathway.
