Abstract
⺠Ischemia elevates blood and brain glutamate and tissue protein synthesis. ⺠Post-conditioning activates mechanisms to eliminate glutamate from brain and blood. ⺠This mechanism is activated promptly, reflecting early blood glutamate decreasing. ⺠Post-conditioning renews protein synthesis and contributes to glutamate reducing. ⺠Glutamate has a great potential in monitoring the effectiveness of therapy.
