Abstract
⺠Age, sex, and gonadal hormones impact stroke outcomes. ⺠Literature on the effects of age and sex on stroke outcome is inconsistent. ⺠Sex and gonadal hormone exposure have a major impact on stroke outcome. ⺠The contribution of sex and hormone varies throughout the lifespan. ⺠Age and hormones are major factors in the inflammatory response to stroke.
