Abstract
⺠Iron accumulation is a hallmark of age related macular degeneration (AMD). ⺠Iron-induced oxidative stress triggers retinal lipid peroxidation and cell death. ⺠cPLA2 and iPLA2 activities had a differential involvement in this AMD model. ⺠cPLA2 was regulated by ERK and participates in COX-2 activation. ⺠iPLA2 had a protective effect and cPLA2 promoted retinal damage.
