Abstract
⺠Alstonine is an alkaloid with anxiolytic and antipsychotic-like properties. ⺠Alstonine and clozapine reduced glutamate uptake in acute hippocampal slices. ⺠5-HT2A and 5-HT2C receptor antagonists abolished alstonine's effect. ⺠Only alstonine increased glutathione intracellular levels.
