Abstract
⺠Zebrafish brainstem neurons can survive after spinal cord injury. ⺠No newly-generated neurons can be seen in the brainstem after spinal cord injury. ⺠Anti-apoptotic factors are upregulated in axotomized brainstem neurons. ⺠Regenerating axons can descend beyond the lesion site after spinal cord injury. ⺠Zebrafish can recover their motor function 60 days after spinal cord injury.
