Abstract
ⶠQuinacrine labels ATP-containing vesicles in Müller glia cells in culture. ⶠGlutamate induces an increase in extracellular ATP levels in these cultures. ⶠNMDA and non-NMDA receptors mediate the accumulation of extracellular ATP. ⶠGlutamate induces ATP release by a calcium-dependent exocytotic mechanism.
