Abstract
⺠The A to I RNA editing modification has a regulatory role in innate immunity. ⺠The RNA editing enzyme ADAR1 increases viral proliferation. ⺠Distinguishing feature of ADAR1 is a Z-DNA/Z-RNA binding domain, Zalpha. ⺠Zalpha domains characterize proteins of the interferon response involved in the recognition of foreign nucleic acids.
