Abstract
⺠Significant inequalities exist in the burden of HPV infection and related diseases. ⺠HPV vaccine uptake is potentially associated with girls' future sexual behaviour. ⺠Low vaccine uptake among girls at highest risk of HPV would limit effectiveness. ⺠Effectiveness is lowest in more sexually active groups due to smaller herd effects. ⺠Inequalities may increase if HPV vaccination coverage is low and/or maldistributed.
