Abstract
► Meningococcal disease predominantly affects infants, children and adolescents. ► Meningitis and septicaemia are the commonest manifestations. ► Localised or chronic infections may lead to disseminated fulminant disease and death. ► About 10-15% of affected individuals die from invasive meningococcal disease. ► Permanent disabling sequelae are seen in approximately 10-20% of survivors.
