Abstract
⺠Meningococcal disease predominantly affects infants, children and adolescents. ⺠Meningitis and septicaemia are the commonest manifestations. ⺠Localised or chronic infections may lead to disseminated fulminant disease and death. ⺠About 10-15% of affected individuals die from invasive meningococcal disease. ⺠Permanent disabling sequelae are seen in approximately 10-20% of survivors.
