Abstract
⺠We are the first to weigh the risk of shortage with the cost of stockpiling. ⺠We show how to approximately calculate stockpile levels efficiently. ⺠We develop theoretical bounds on optimal stockpile replenishment quantities. ⺠We show that storing a fixed supply of all vaccines is highly suboptimal. ⺠We quantify reductions in stockpile levels when there are multiple manufacturers.
