Abstract
⺠Developed a new experimental model of E. histolytica infection in baboons. ⺠E. histolytica infection and inflammatory colitis was sustained for 90 days. ⺠A Gal-lectin-based intranasal synthetic peptide vaccine was efficacious. ⺠Vaccine efficacy was validated by fecal PCR, colonoscopy and pathology. ⺠Immunity correlated with the ELISA OD value for intestinal anti-lectin IgA.
