Abstract
⺠Immunity against pertussis is relatively short-lived and heterogeneous. ⺠Vaccination prevents both disease and transmission. ⺠The age-mixing patterns lead to little contact between teenagers and infants. ⺠A teenage booster vaccine will not likely indirectly protect infants.
