Abstract
⺠The effect of vaccination on transplacental transmission of BTV-8 was tested. ⺠Vaccination reduced BTV-8 viraemia and transmission to the foetus in ewes. ⺠Foetuses of vaccinated ewes had significantly less lesions. ⺠In heifers, transmission to the foetus was less frequent compared to ewes. ⺠In vaccinated heifers, no viraemia and no transmission to the foetus was found.
