Abstract
- A C1 inhibitor gene (OfC1Inh) with conserved serpin family features was identified.
- The ORF of OfC1Inh was distributed within 10Â exons and promoter region of OfC1Inh was analyzed.
- Although OfC1Inh was constitutively transcribed, liver had extremely high number of transcripts.
- Modulated OfC1Inh transcription upon challenges showed its association with immunity.
- Purified (r)OfC1Inh showed inhibitory activity against mammalian C1 esterase and thrombin.
