Abstract
⺠Studies of Entamoeba histolytica proteins called SIAF and PTPA whose mRNA level was upregulated upon oxidative stress. ⺠Stable transfectant strains expressing these genes were obtained and phenotypes associated with virulence characterized. ⺠EhSIAF and EhPTPA are specifically involved in resistance to oxidative stress and have a role in amoebic adherence. ⺠Both proteins are likely to be involved in stress adaptation in the context of Entamoeba-host interaction.
