Abstract
⺠A study to identify the proteins that make up the eggshell of Schistosoma mansoni. ⺠Identification of proteins after a four-step stripping procedure to purify eggshells. ⺠45 proteins were identified, which are non-specific for eggs, some of which are known to be immunogenic. ⺠Proteins present at the site and time of eggshell cross-linking are incorporated into the eggshell. ⺠Apparently cross-linking no longer occurs when the miracidium starts secreting proteins.
