Abstract
⺠New anti-nematode drugs and vaccines are needed for animal and plant diseases. ⺠New targets for drug development and vaccine testing can be identified by comparative genomics. ⺠We have developed NEMBASE4, a database analysing 62 nematode species and 250,000 genes. ⺠NEMBASE4 can be used to test ideas of nematode gene function and identify new genes of interest. ⺠We demonstrate NEMBASE4 for analysing nematode drug targets and particularly horizontally transferred genes.
