Abstract
OCLC's Web-scale management services (WMS) and Kuali Open Library Environment (OLE) are two new options within the integrated library system (ILS) marketplace. These systems or services represent a change from traditional ILS offerings with a focus on flexibility, electronic resource management, and interoperability across third-party systems. OCLC's Web-scale management services will provide back-office support within a networked environment. Kuali OLE is a community source project that will replace vended ILS solutions for partner institutions. Andrew Pace from OCLC, Robert McDonald from Indiana University, and Michael Winkler from the University of Pennsylvania provide detailed profiles for both OCLC's Web-scale management services and Kuali OLE.
