Abstract
- The link between activation/deactivation, emotion regulation strategies and different skin picking subtypes was tested.
- Tension was found to be associated with both focused and automatic skin picking.
- Calmness reduced focused skin picking in individuals with lowered tendency to apply expressive suppression.
- Calmness decreased automatic skin picking in individuals who used cognitive reappraisal as emotion regulation strategy.
