Abstract
The findings suggest significant variation in the perceptions and experiences of participant groups. Casualties report concerns relating to communication, command and control and clinical handling. In contrast, clinicians and exercise controllers reported concerns related to resource shortages, inadequate means of communication and safety issues. The successful management of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) incidents involving decontamination requires a systematic approach to planning, preparation and operational response focussing on building resilient and flexible response systems that are patient (casualty) focussed.
