Abstract
Microcrystalline powder of YNbO4:Sm3+ with different recipes are prepared using conventional solid-state method. X-ray diffraction patterns are measured and confirm formation of tetragonal phase structure. Absorption spectrum are collected and spectral characteristic are analyzed through Judd-Ofelt theory. Higher asymmetric nature of Sm3+ ions sites and ionic nature of the chemical bond between Sm3+ ions and [NbO4]3- ligand is discovered. Excitation spectrum with emission wavelength at 647 nm are recorded, and a strong excitation band near 270 nm originated from absorption of [NbO4]3- groups in crystalline lattice of YNbO4 and six excitation peaks due to 4f−4f transition of Sm3+ ions are revealed. Emission spectrum excited at 270 nm and 410 nm are also measured and compared with each other. The calculated results of CIE color coordinates indicate that all the coordinates of five samples locate at blue light region.
