Abstract
⺠First larger-scale durational comparison of Estonian (E) and Finnish (F). ⺠Word structures with only short segments are highly alike in the two languages. ⺠Among non-short segments, F durations intermediate between E Q2 and Q3 categories. ⺠Durational behaviour of C1, outside the quantity system, different in E and F. ⺠Accentual lengthening in E and F consistent with a timing model developed for English.
