Abstract
Once the imaging examination is justified by the clinical context, given the low doses of ionizing radiation delivered by nuclear imaging, the quality of the medical diagnosis always takes precedence over dosimetric considerations. Corollary to this assertion, the voluntary alteration of the image quality and therefore of the quality of the diagnosis on the basis of radiation protection considerations alone constitutes medical malpractice.
